M-CHAT-R Autism Screener
The Modified Checklist for Autism in Toddlers, Revised (M-CHAT-R) is a validated screening tool designed to identify children ages 16–30 months who may benefit from a diagnostic evaluation for autism spectrum disorder.
Before you begin:
- This screener is designed for children between 16 and 30 months of age.
- It takes approximately 5 minutes to complete.
- Answer each question based on how your child usually behaves.
- If your child has shown a behavior only once or twice, answer "No."
- This is a screening tool, not a diagnosis. Results should be discussed with a healthcare provider.
The M-CHAT-R/F was developed by Diana Robins, PhD, Deborah Fein, PhD, and Marianne Barton, PhD. It is freely available for clinical, research, and educational purposes. This implementation is provided as a service to families and does not replace professional evaluation.
